A spin wheel or scratch card is only good for your store if players trust it. That trust is easy to lose: a wheel whose slices don't match the odds, a "you won" for a prize that never arrives, or a teenager playing for prizes. This guide covers the protections built into the Earn & Games feature in PrizeX: which prizes can be drawn, how the odds are shown, when the result is fixed, who can play, and which of these the store owner can change.
Who has it
- Earn & Games is included in PrizeX. For BidKing and RaffKing it's an add-on.
- The protections below are on by default. The store owner can switch some of them off, and the store asks them to confirm a warning first and logs the change with their name.
Only prizes that can really be given
- A prize the store can't deliver is left out of the draw. That covers a discount prize while the Coupons feature is off, a lottery ticket for a draw that can't take one, a shop product that isn't on sale, and any prize with a 0% chance.
- The other prizes' chances grow to fill the gap, so the chances still add up to 100%.
- A game with nothing left to win refuses the play and charges nothing.
Odds players can see
- A "Your chances" table, under each spin wheel and scratch card and in the slot's "Paytable and odds" panel, lists every prize with its chance, and "1 in N" for rare ones. The chances are rounded to one decimal place and add up to exactly 100%, with a total row.
- It comes from the same settings the draw uses.
- The wheel's slices are sized by chance. Very rare prizes get a minimum slice so their label is readable, so the table, not the slice, is the exact figure.
- The table is on by default. The store owner can switch it off, and the warning reminds them that many places require odds to be shown.
Results decided once, on the server
- The server picks the result from the chances you set, charges any cost and pays the prize. The animation only shows what was decided.
- A scratch card's result is fixed when it's bought. Its symbols are only sent to the browser when the player starts scratching, so the page doesn't give the result away early.
- Scratch-card filler is picked by real chance, so a losing card doesn't tease a rare prize more often than it can be won.
The draw uses a secure random number generator, but it isn't publicly checkable the way a verified raffle draw is. We don't call these games provably fair.
Adults only
- Sign-up needs an age of at least 18 while Earn & Games is on.
- Players are checked again when they play. They must be 18, or your sign-up age if it's higher, by the date of birth on their account. A player without one gives it once before playing, and can't change it afterwards.
- The date is what the player says, unless an identity check has confirmed it.
- This check is on by default. The store owner can switch it off, with a warning that the games are adult-only and the responsibility is theirs.
Fraud checks on plays and payouts
- Before a play: the store's fraud rules run, such as VPN blocking, one account per device and country changes.
- Before a prize is paid: the same rules run again, on every game, before anything is charged.
- Both are on by default. They need the Fraud Prevention feature, which is included in PrizeX.
The slot machine
- The reels show the real result. The server draws the prize first, then picks reel positions that show it: three of a prize's symbol on the middle line for a win. The browser only animates the reels into place.
- Losing spins aren't arranged to look close. A losing line is picked at random from every line that isn't three of a kind, so two matching symbols and a miss turn up only as often as chance makes them.
- A "Paytable and odds" panel on the premium cabinet shows what each line pays, the average share of coins paid back, and each prize's chance. The paytable and payback figure are always shown there.
- Bets are in coins only, between the minimum and maximum you set. A double tap never charges twice.
- "ALL IN" is off by default. If you switch it on, it asks "Bet all X coins?" first and never bets more than your biggest bet.
- A prize below 1× the bet isn't shown as a win. The reels show no winning line and the player sees "X coins returned". The admin form warns you when you set one.
- A new slot game starts at about 90% payback, and the form warns at 100% or more. Check the payback figure before you go live.
The Bamboo Fortune slot shows the store's result too. Its old paytable, bonus rounds and free spins, which didn't match what the server paid, have been removed.
Arcade games
Arcade games can let a better score improve the prize odds. Scores come from the player's browser, so that's off for new games, and the odds table is shown instead. Games that existed before keep their setting until you decide, and the store asks you once.
What stays your responsibility
- Whether your games are gambling. Paid plays with prizes worth money are gambling in many places. The operator is responsible for licensing, so check with a local lawyer before launch.
- Keeping the protections on. Switching one off is logged, and the warnings say why each one matters.
- Never presenting games as a way to earn money, and never marketing them to anyone under 18.
Common questions
Can players see the odds?
Yes. Each spin wheel and scratch card shows a "Your chances" table that adds up to 100%. It's on by default, and the store owner can switch it off.
Can a player win a prize the store can't give?
No. Prizes that can't be delivered, such as a discount while Coupons is off, are left out of the draw and the odds table.
Can the result of a scratch card be seen before scratching?
No. The result is fixed when the card is bought, and its symbols are only sent once the player starts scratching.
Are the games provably fair?
No. Results come from a secure random draw on the server using the odds shown, but they can't be publicly verified like a verified raffle draw.
